I know many of you think Ted Kenndey punked America with his 1965 immigration act. I know you think democrats support open borders to basically create the ultamite welfare-depenancy state. But when you stop and think about it, the liberal establishment is about to shoot itself in the ass!

Here's some stats to chew on:

-Feminism doesn't exist outside of the US/Europe
-Abortion is completely illegal in Latin America and the Middle East
-Over 80% of people outside the Western world believe in God
-Christainty is growing by enormous leaps and bounds in Asia and Africa
-Latinos are some of the most devout Catholics in the world

Really, when you take away economics an issue, the thrid world is really Republican. Maybe we should keep this in mind before we rush to judgement about the future of this country.

And don't forget Bush got 40% of hispanic vote in 2004, helping him win the White House (that, and fear of gay marriage)

If Republicans keep on demonizing hispanics, though (while at the same time hypocritally hiring illegal aliens to do all their lawn work like Mitt Romney), they will find themselves as a minority party.

All of this anti-Latino hysteria is temporary, though, until Americans find a new enemy. Americans always need a scapegoat/enemy, and now that there is no serious Soviet communist threat and the "War On Terror" seems to have lost it's appeal after the debacle in Iraq, the target is now Mexicans.

In a decade or two, the target will be China or Iran (or who knows, maybe a resurgent Russia), or if homosexuals here in the US push harder and more aggresively for gay rights and marriage, the target will be the gay community. And everyone will forget this anti-latino craze much like we forgot the anti-Irish, anti-Italian, anti-East Euroepan immigration hysteria of the late 19th/early 20th century and the anti-communist craze of the mid-to-late 20th

outside the US/Europe:

-women are 4th class citizens
-overpopulation/pollution is rampant
-christianity is a combination of local religions such as voodoo or Aztec consisting of 'Drug Saint' Jesus Malverde, "Saint Death" Santa Muerte
-crime, poverty, incompetence, and corruption reign supreme, above or infused with local pagan forms of christianity
- Over 95% dependent on western aid, relief, funds, and western advancements, essentially being welfare-recipient countries
- Over 90% support nationalist/socialist/communist agendas and politics, and are anti-capitalist

you make it sound like these people sustain a superior culture and live in a Christian paradise. why would they escape heaven on earth?

That sounds eerily like what conservatives and Republicans want to turn the USA into. No wonder conservative Republcians hate Western Europe so much, they must hate all that "evil godless secular liberalsm" that promotes women and gay rights, promotes birth control, champions tree-hugging environmental causes, and favors reason and logic over silly religious superstition.

Interesting point of view here, and in some ways reflects my own thinking on the enormous ironies of our day. For some reason, I was reminded of a similar "factoid"---80 years ago there was NO SUCH THING as a "teenager". This huge group, which is so important today, simply didn't exist as we know it. A child went from "child" directly to "responsibilty"---no hanging out, no kicking back, and no skateboards. By the time a person was 16, he was already in many ways an adult. What a change!

Sounds like much of what I've been preaching---racial diversity is fine, but we must not lose our bearings as to culture. Your post seems to show a decided "slant" in favor of our US culture, in contrast to some others. I agree. There's a lot more to "culture" than just exciting new recipes or different types of music, and to those who say "It's all good", my answer is, "No, it's not. Some is good---but some is bad". Seems like common sense to me..

Don't forget the gay folks. They may be safe in Europe or Canada, but where else?

Either you are confused or confusing the issues. Americans are concerned about the ever-expanding numbers of illegal aliens in this country and want it to stop. It is a legitimate concern because of the burden illegal immigration places on Tax payers. This is not anti-Latino. Your ludicrous statement reminds me of the situation where police departments had to lower their entrance test standard because some women couldn't pass it and threatened to sue. Now anybody who dares to criticize the lower test standard is considered anti-women.

Some good points, but you're glossing over some profound realities. It's true we've "demonized" these earlier groups, who eventually went on to acquire a place in society and become "good" Americans, (and whose descendants are now demonizing a new goup). My argument with you, though, is that the AMERICANS who "survived" those earlier "invasions"--and who survived the great depression, and who survived 2 world wars.--are not the Americans of today. They had a sense of national unity that said to outsiders, "want to join us?--OK, but it won't be easy. And you'll have to "jump through the hoops" and you'll get teased and mocked. If you still want to 'go for it', that's your right-we won't stand in your way. But we won't give you much sympathy, either". It was a tough, sink-or-swim proposition.
Today that's all gone--we "Americans" are tearing each others' hair out in a fight over who's being the "meanest" to the new immigrants. Very little is being asked of the new arrivals, and we have taken upon ourselves the burden of accomodating OUR culture to THEIRS. It's an enormous change in thinking, which I think will result in an enormously different outcome in the years ahead.
In closing, you say we now "target" the Mexicans. Did this just happen at random? Did we just draw straws, and decide to target the Mexicans, instead of the Albanians or the Vietnamese? Have the Mexicans done anything in the past 20 years to CAUSE us to target them, or is it all just random xenophobia?.
PS I do agree with you that the Chinese will likely be our target in the coming decades--for reasons both good and bad. Don't know if I see gays as a similar "target" group, though....
Thanks for listening.....
