VICTORIA, Texas - A truck driver whose rig carried 18 illegal immigrants to their deaths has admitted his role in the case, according to government documents made public yesterday, but officials said the masterminds of the smuggling operation remained at large.
The driver, Tyrone Williams, 32, of Schenectady, N.Y., appeared before a U.S. magistrate in Houston and was charged with transporting and harboring illegal immigrants and conspiracy to transport immigrants. Because of the deaths, the charges could carry a life sentence if Williams is convicted, said Victoria County District Attorney Dexter Eaves
Same case from 2003 you sourced before...
Do you have any articles about illegal aliens in the trailers of Mexican trucks within the United States?...
A case like that would actually be related to NAFTA...

In Texas alone, 1.2 million Mexican trucks had safety violations between 2007 and 2011, according to an El Paso Times report that quotes official statistics from state public safety officials. Among the safety violations in trucks coming from Mexico were bad brakes, flat tires, axle problems and defective lights. During that period inspectors placed more than 30,000 trucks and 625 drivers out of service, according to Judicial Watch, a public-interest group that investigates government corruption.

Like I said, U.S. law enforcement focuses (Crack! ¨Your taillight is out¨) on Mexican trucks...

Funny that he´s not so concerned about NAFTA from the Canadian side, where those drivers have had free-range of the entire United States for 14 years!...
Including incidents from Canadian truckers driving drunk...
Ending up in accidents that have killed U.S. citizens...

Do Canadian DOT regulations more closely reflect our own?

Are you suggesting that U.S. law enforcement would purposely break a Mexican truck drivers tail lights in order to arrest him? What about the bad breaks and flat tires?

Yes they do, and in some cases exceed them. Deflection to raise the Canadian thingy.
It's not funny that the Mexican trucks are being mentioned while the Canadian ones are not as there is no comparison at all.
Canadian trucks were already emissions and safety compliant and there was no American money required to rebate them to make any junk trucks compliant as there was in the deal struck by Obama on behalf of those mexican trucks that had to be updated because they were OLD. You people paid to have mexican trucks brought up to your Cali emissions standards.
This would be laughable if it weren't true. THEY want entry into your market and YOU pay to make their trucks acceptable to your DOT standards. Haaar!
He (IBM) forgot to mention that U.S. trucks have had the same freedom throughout Canada in a reciprocal agreement AND we've ALSO had incidents of U.S drivers causing fatal accidents killing Canadians while DUI.
What does that have to do with illegals coming across while masquerading as CDL compliant drivers of commercial trucks. They can buy the CDL and pilot the truck into the states then simply dissappear into thin air and leave the truck at it's last depot where another mexican driver will be paid to return it to the border for another turn around.
Some of the trucks that come out of Mexico are very nice units but some are absolute crap and you only need to have an accident with an illegal driver to ruin your whole day as I had mine ruined in Yuma when an illegal driver tagged my passenger side mirror of my custom built International RV toter and then tried to run for god's sake.
After being chased down by the local Yuma city motorcycle cops it turned out he was driving for a recognized firm but had neither the license or proper entry visa to be doing so. Border Patrol were called at that point.
Litigation will be ongoing and relentless as well as costly to the American taxpayer. You will pick up a considerable portion of the tab for those costs as well.

That is exactly what IBM's suggesting; the motivation for that behaviour on the part of the inspectors being....what exactly???
Could it just be the normal tendancy for Mexican trucks to be driven hard and put away wet with maintenance a distant 12th in priority? They operate with a completely different set of ethics below that border so to expect them to raise that ethical bar the second they cross into your country is simply just unreasonably naive.
Of course that is related to illegal immigration?...
Don't you know? This one person represents all truckers from Mexico. I mean never mind she isn't a trucker, doesn't have a commercial license, and is generally a bad person which I wouldn't automatically assume of any random person, she has a Hispanic name and is some Mexico. That should be enough to condemn people not even related. That's how this works.

This is hardly an isolated incident. In fact, drunk driving by illegals has become rather commonplace. And yes, I do condemn anyone who chooses to drive drunk, irrespective of immigration status. Far too many have lost their lives because some irresponsible drunk chose to drive. Furthermore, what decent person hits another human being and doesn’t even bother to stop? You tell me.
