A federal complaint filed Monday charges Kuanyi Chen with harboring illegal aliens and enticing the entry of illegal aliens. According to the complaint, Chen arranged for pregnant women to travel from China to Saipan so they could give birth on American soil and have U.S. citizenship granted to their children.
Taiwanese man charged in Chinese birthing scheme - CBS News

If our government didn't treat U.S. citizenship like cheap Halloween candy, to be offered to anyone who gives birth on U.S. soil, this would not happen. He got caught, while thousands of others continue to make millions off of this scam. Of course, countless others live in this country illegally and enjoy all of the benefits of U.S. citizenship through their US-born children. Yet, we still have citizens supporting birthright citizenship. After all, according to them, anyone born on U.S. soil is an "American" and "deserves" U.S. citizenship. Heck, they don't even have to come to the continental US. They just need to enter a U.S. territory and give birth. This is exactly why we have become the laughingstock of the world.

Yes -- maternity units units in many hospitals actually have more foreigners giving birth than Americans -- that's how very lucrative these schemes are.

It's foolish that we simply hand US citizenship out to reward crooks.

I have heard of this trend...pregnancy tourism, just to give a child the advantage of dual citizenship, very vogue now in India.

Birthright citizenship is the worst nationality concept in the world. Funny, though, all birthright countries in the world are in North America and South America, except Pakistan, Cambodia, and Lesotho. All other countries either never had it, or did away with it at some point. If we did away with the welfare state, this would not be a problem to be honest.

Birthright citizenship shold be ended for children of all illegal aliens, and even those born to non-citizen legal residents shouldn't be granted citizenship unless the parents have livd in this country continuously for at least 10 years, have worked, and been contributing members of society.

I agree. The only children to be born citizens in this country should be the children of U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Many foreigners living in US on Student visas, work visas (H-1B etc.) have given birth to children in US and those kids have become US citizens. the population of Indian Americans have surged from 1.6 million to 3.2 million (1% of US population) in last 10 years. I am against giving US citizenship to children of foreigners born in USA.

Foreign students? They should be sent home if they become pregnant. They came here to attend school, not start a family.
