"Somehow, we see immigrating illegally — as something that merits the toughest, most inflexible, inhumane punishment possible short of physical harm. The mandatory sentence for people who have been unlawfully present in the U.S. for over 1 year is deportation for 10 years. Those who have crossed the border unlawfully more than once can be barred for life."
The average prison sentence for a person who commits murder, according to Bureau of Justice Statistics, is 241 months (or 20 years). This means that the penalty for murder and the penalty for entering the United States illegally are the same. Except they aren't. An individual sentenced to murder in the United States will only serve 147 months (12.25 years) in prison.
This is unadulterated BS. How many convicted murderers have the opportunity to escape from prison 10 or more times and live among us free as birds? How many murderers are marching in our streets brazenly proclaiming they are "Murderers and Unafraid?" How many illegal aliens have been executed for entering our country multiple times?
The toughest, most inflexible, inhumane punishment? Barred for life? Give me a break!
It is beyond belief that they are now trying to compare the penalties for murder with that of illegal entry.
Sob story attempt fail. Illegals, for the most part, are handled with white gloves. The only ones currently getting tossed after incarceration are the worst of the worst and have earned every day of a jail sentence if they are handed one.
How does being deported compare with being locked in an 8' by 10' cell 23 hours a day? How many would choose being in prison for 10 years as opposed to living free in their home country for 10 years? I had no idea living in another country was such a harsh punihment that it's comparable with being in prison.
You know they're desperate when they start comparing freedom in other countries to years of imprisonment in the U.S. for murder. Actually, it's an insult to Mexico and other countries to even be compared to such. I doubt those enjoying life SOB would compare their lives to that of incarcerated murderers. The mere notion is beyond absurd. But, what can be expected from the greedy profiteers of cheap, illegal labor?
