Anything Illegal should be band, sent back, prosecuted, etc. What makes a person, place or thing legal is the process it takes to get there and laws established by the Majority and society. America is a GREAT country and is right to provide those that want to be here LEGALLY the process to do so. I am all for imigrating to America! LEGAL IMMIGRATION IS WONDERFUL AND SHOULD BE SUPPORTED 100% AND SHOULD BE WELCOMED 100%. Until that process is complete Illegal anything should be delt with in accordance to the law.
Is it fair for the citizens of the US to tollerage illegality? Is if fair for a person who took the initiative to bust their tush to get legal status to tollerate illegality by those who refuse to take the required steps to become legal?

My right as an American is to be protected within the land that I am a citizen of - America. I don't appreciate having my tax dollars being contributed to those that are here illegally - hospital bills - schooling - counceling - government assistance etc. I think that that money can be spent to better improve our educational system, give pay raises to law enforcement, and help Americans with Legal status. I am all for spending tax money on sending ILLEGALs home. As for the small jobs illegals do and Americans don't want to do, well the way the economy is going Americans and Legal citizens may be reconsidering taking on those small jobs to live.

There seems to be more benefits (free education, government assistant etc.) for ILLEGALS than for Americans.

What do you think?

I think there is far too little spent on getting our kids a decent high school education these days.

Well put HSCCS! You summed it up rather nicely. We as a nation can't even afford to pay our bills yet we continue to let illegal leach off of us. Not only do I agree with prosecuting illegals and sending them back, but I think we should use RICO type laws to seize their assets as well as the assest of companies that profiteer off of illegal labor.

Our government already had done studies to determine how many migrant workers are needed.. so-to-speak. So with those studies, our government allows 2 millions work visa's a year to migrant workers to be able to come.. for those jobs. Any and ALL other illegals are taking THOSE jobs from the permitted migrants.. and then many many other jobs are taken away from Americans!

American kids are now losing many different School programs such and band, gym classes, and others. The money WAS allocated for those programs, but now has to be used to pay for NON-Speaking English illegals education!

455 BILLION American tax dollars went to illegals!

Those who do come LEGALLY suffer as well as Americans...
Illegals sneaking across our border are and will ruin America!

This is just not true.

Gotta love it though when certain ones come out and tell us how illegals do not receive benefits and how they are not bankrupting our country and all.

Illegal immigrants have the same rights as other lawbreakers.

Not only do I think you're RIGHT.....I think, in the case of the US in particular, you're ESPECIALLY right. Some countries have arbitrary, clear-cut 'parameters' around which their societies are built. Some have an obvious restriction favoring a certain race--or have a state-sponsored official religion. Some countries carefully 'weed out' their immigrants, choosing only those from a certain 'group'. Many countries want only self-supporting, educated, affluent immigrants. Some accept only those who can "BUY" their way in. Others make it virtually impossible for ANYONE to enter.

Here in the US, we have no such restrictions--we have no legally-sanctioned, "official" religion, "official" race, or even an "official" language. We don't even agree on an absolute list of "ethics" or "morals". We require no "patriotism", nor any loyalty to our flag. Salute it, or step on it---we don't care. Many of us argue that we really have no specific "culture". Astoundingly, there are some of us who even insist "We're ALL immigrants" (!) (meaning, one would assume, that therefore NONE of us 'belongs' here more than anyone else---that even newly-arrived illegals have inalienable 'rights',---simply because 'we' have no right to tell them they DON'T). There aren't TOO MANY countries so wide-open that they put the entire population of the earth on a 'par' with their own citizens---but that's the way SOME of us feel, right NOW..."Citizenship is OK", we seem to feel, "but if you're NOT a citizen? Hey, THAT'S 'cool' TOO !" Obviously, no "organization' could long survive with this 'hazy' concept of what 'made it what it is'....

The ONLY thing holding us together at ALL, for now, is that we have more-or-less voluntarily agreed to subject ourselves to our system of LAWS. If THAT goes, then there's really no way we'll be able to continue as a "united" society--because, as I said, that's ALL that unites us. Lose that, and there's nothing left.

To the extent that ignoring our immigration requirements, especially in MILLIONS of cases, is promoting the "ignoring" of our LAWS, then this a step in the direction of weakening our society, and promoting widespread (and high-level) disrespect for law. Once one large area of law becomes "OK" to ignore, others will soon follow.

At least, in answer to your question, that is "what I think"....others may (and obviously DO), disagree.

Before 1965, the US had strict requirements as well. Ironically, during debate over the '65 bill, Ted Kennedy assured legislators that the ethnic balance of the US would be maintained.

You're right, of course. Some decades ago, we 'gave that up'-in an effort to make our society more 'equitable' and fair.

TODAY, a moment ago, I just emerged from a minor forum 'spat' over whether 'citizenship' involved the concept of 'loyalty'....now, what were you saying?...
