Louisiana cities that adopt policies that shield undocumented immigrants could lose the ability to borrow money for major infrastructure projects under a proposal that’s advancing through the Louisiana Legislature.

The House on Wednesday voted 67-27 in favor of a bill that’s aimed at eliminating immigration-related “sanctuary cities” — jurisdictions that have policies or laws that allow local law enforcement to refuse to cooperate with federal immigration officials, unless they are compelled to by a court. House Bill 1148 now heads to the Senate for vetting.

New Orleans and Lafayette are the only places in Louisiana that are considered sanctuary cities.

It's a start. Now maybe more states will starting going after "sanctuary cities".

Good. Now let's hope Edwards isn't like the other democrats and signs this bill.

Unfortunately, how long do you think it will be before the state gets sued?

Democrats are a wholly owned subsidiary of La Raza. This thing has no chance of being signed by a Democrat.

Sanctuary cities are ridiculous they are giving people who break the law a free pass.

Last week a court in Italy said that it is not a crime to steal food if you are hungry.. One can almost make a case for that but allowing a person to stay in a city or town with no fear or accountability towards the law is crazy.

We have laws to provide a structure for which society operates within. If you step outside the cover of laws then chances are you are breaking them and you are a criminal.

We cannot have a class of people that can function outside those laws even if their last name is Clinton.

Nothing is going to change in the US regarding illegal immigrants it is only going to get worse unless we make it harder for them to get in and stay.
