Such rafts are also popular with Central Americans heading farther north, to the United States. But their number has dropped in recent months, says Alexander, who has piloted a raft for four years. Occupancy at the Casa del Migrante in nearby Tapachula has fallen by more than a third since 2016, says Julver Gordillo, who works at the hostel. Immigration police are catching far fewer Central Americans without the right documents this year (see chart).
Mexico needs these people to do the work Mexicans won't do. Without Central American migrants, lettuce in Mexico will be 50 pesos a head.
Agreed.
Tho to be fair: Mexico's birthrate's crashing like a rock and, word is that country's starting to have labor shortages. Going from 7 kids per woman about 50 years ago to just over 2 in 2017 WILL do that.

"Just over 2", so somehow the ones that remain in the country know how to limit their families to the number they can support, but once here, they produce the magic "4" anchors. Interesting? I guess if you support your own kids it is 2, and when someone else supports them it is "4". That might explain why when they are getting deported, they don't want to take home kids they would have to support.
Well, good news! I certainly hope that ICE rounds up some more workers to fill that shortage in Mexico!

Let's send back all of Mexico's citizens here illegally to help alleviate the problem.
And Mexico...don't say we never did anything for you.

Yep, evidently Mexico isn't providing financial incentives to pop out kids.
Yes without them their economy would crash...it would be impossible to deport millions of them...they are good hard working outstanding citizens...it's also racist and can't separate families
Does Mexico give them drivers licenses? Free education? Medicaid?
Mexico is very brutal with immigrants from central America they so damn hypocritical!
