HOUSTON (Reuters) - The men gather early on street corners here in storm-battered Houston, ready for the jobs they know will come their way, sweeping up broken glass and clearing downed trees and debris from city streets.

Colombia used to be one of the most corrupt Goverment's in Latin America after the drug cartel became so strong that they were a danger to the equally corrupt President . Colombia than began to clean up it's house.
The new Colombian Pres is one of the best .
Mexico's Calderon is now starting to fear for his own safety. He look's like he might be getting on the right track. The drug cartel he looked the other way for (chances are took a nice penny from them ) is getting to big for it's pants and he look's worried.
Perhap's he might start doing his job. Ofcourse due ONLY to fear and while stealing huge sums of money.

Corruption under Calderon is one of the worse in history as hard to fathom as that may be.
We are about to give him financial aid to fight the drug families. .
I wonder is America might be better served by letting the drug cartel that he allowed to rise but now fears to "deal with him" in their own special way .

Good point Luiso. Our own government could use some big time house cleaning.
"Everyone went to work yesterday," said Mark Zwick, founder of Casa Juan Diego, an assistance organization that houses, feeds and provides medical care for undocumented immigrants in Houston. "Work had been down, but now there is plenty for them."
Are there no Americans in need of housing, feeding, and medical care? What about work for them?
I'm reminded of the story that came out of New Orleans after Katrina. Americans were hired for construction and clean-up and those who had benefited the most from the spate of available jobs were Black Americans. However, after a few weeks they were summarily dismissed from their jobs because "the Mexicans had arrived."
Quote:
An Alabama employment agency that sent 70 laborers and construction workers to job sites in that state in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina says the men were sent home after just two weeks on the job by employers who told them "the Mexicans had arrived" and were willing to work for less.

I suppose this is yet another situation where Americans will lose and illegal aliens will profit.
They weren't dismissed --- they didn't want to work. Period. It's a catch-22 really. People dislike illegal immigration and want it reversed, yet they need them to do the work that Americans think they are above doing. Many would rather draw unemployment than do a job beneath them. Interestingly enough Europe is beginning to go through the same thing we are and they are just at the beginning of the cycle with their illegal immigrants. And they complain of the same issues - the illegals arriving there are doing the work that the native countrymen believe are beneath them.

Cut off unemployment benefits after one month-----------problem solved.
