Maricopa County sheriff's deputies arrested an illegal immigrant after he was suspected of firing an AK-47 while roaming the streets of East Mesa, officials said.

Abraham Duarte, 20, was first seen in an unincorporated area east of Apache Trail and Ellsworth Road, said Deputy Doug Matteson, a Maricopa County Sheriff's Office spokesman.

Next, there's going to be a thread talking about banning assault weapons.

The guys is crazy. You can expect that in Arizona though. Anybody over 18 can get an AK there.

You are right about that, and you are allowed to carry guns in Arizona.

Easy there.

I live here in Arizona and there is a lot of respect for proper firearm safety.

Am originally from Wash DC where the 'good people' are not allow to carry--------which does not deter the criminals from doing so.

And; no, I do not own any firearms-----------which is my choice

You are allowed to carry guns in all but two states (and D.C.). Some just require permits and some don't.

I don't think there should be an assault weapons ban though. Most gun-related crimes are committed with handguns. Assault weapons are used for sports and competitions for the most part. A lot of the time, people just judge how dangerous something is by how it looks. Watching too many action movies.

This is really nothing unusual -- in neighborhoods with many illegal aliens gunshots are heard all the time from different types of weapons. And yes there is a culture of shooting them in the air -- ever been around on Diez y Seis or Cinco de Mayo?

Perhaps it doesn't bother you but it can be scary when you find shells and spent bullets in your yard. It also shows a general lack of respect for laws and consideration for others.
