In an exclusive interview on 12 News, Arizona's former top federal prosecutor said Sheriff Joe Arpaio's immigration sweeps are illegal. Paul Charlton is a republican and served 16 years in the Justice Department serving three presidents. Charlton said he hoped the federal government would step in, investigate and stop the sheriff's immigration round-ups. Charlton said, "What Sheriff Joe Arpaio is doing absolutely warrants a civil rights investigation. It is wrong to use law enforcement authority to stop people because they have a different skin color than we do. It's right to use law enforcement authority to enforce immigration law where immigration law is in path. But that's not what's happening here."
I find immigration sweeps a viable option. Just like DUI check points.

Agreed. I find it odd that the former S.A. used skin color as the reason for the sweeps vs. elaborating on the fact that said sweeps nets a multitude of criminals. They wouldn't have to worry about being swept if they had a right to be here.
Ditto, tinman and JDubsMom. My brothers will never have to concern themselves with being 'entrapped' by Chris Hansen on "To Catch A Predator." Why? Because they have no interest in having sex with kids. Only men who arrange to meet with teenagers are caught.

How true! Likewise, these illegals who claim racial profiling, have no defense. If they weren't illegally in this country, they wouldn't have to concern themselves with having their 'rights' violated.

Their unlawful presence in this country does not automatically ensure them the rights guaranteed by our Constitution. Only the most skewed interpretation of the Constitution could acertain that foreign nationals are entitled to American civil rights.

The likes of Paul Charlton is exactly why The United States is in this predicament right now . . . with their AIDING AND ABETTING POLICIES being disguised as Civil Rights.
