It’s a travesty this man must pay anything; but at least the illegals aren’t getting the outrageous amount they wanted. The bulk of the $78,000 will go to the shyster lawyer anyway.
Quote:
TUCSON - A jury in Tucson has found that a southern Arizona rancher didn't violate the civil rights of a group of illegal immigrants who claimed he detained them at gunpoint in 2004.
The federal jury also found Roger Barnett wasn't liable on claims of battery and false imprisonment.
But the jury did find him liable Tuesday on four claims of assault and four claims of infliction of emotional distress.
The jurors ordered Barnett to pay nearly $78,000 in damages. The bulk of that is punitive.
Barnett's lawyer said he feels good about the outcome.
Frankly: I like to see those illegal aliens in question suedthen thrown out of the USA------------permanently.
Agreed. Think of the anguish this man has endured. Had the jury ruled in favor of the illegals, he could have lost everything. Someone posted info on another rancher who lost his property to illegals. Not to mention, legal fees. I’m sure they were through the roof.
He did make a BIG mistake in my personal opinion by flashing "Blue & Gold" badge that said "Barnett Ranch Patrol" Cochise County, State of Arizona. (homemade badges of this nature are Illegal)
They thought he was the POLICE.
That badge is costing the rancher some big money and the Illegals are laughing their way back across the border or as I understand do have temporary papers to stay in the US which should not be.
Criminals should not be rewarded.
