According to the Orange County Register (http://search.abclocal.go.com/search/results?station=kabc&search=siteSearch&q=Orange+Co unty+Register - broken link), the Santa Ana Jail (http://search.abclocal.go.com/search/results?station=kabc&search=siteSearch&q=Santa+Ana +Jail - broken link) already gets more federal funding for housing illegal immigrants than any other municipal jail in the Southland.
Santa Ana Police Chief Paul Walters says he plans to negotiate an increase in the daily rate it gets for each detainee from $82 to $87 and adding 32 additional beds.
If the changes are approved, they would take effect by October.
Walters said if the jail does not bring in the additional revenue, it would have to make about $1 million in cuts.

As much as I dislike reading about more prisons being constructed I'm in favor of this move.
There'll be more than enough persons to fill that prison.
