Remember prop 187? The bill proposed in CA in '94 that denied public services (health care, education, welfare, food stamps, housing) to illegals. It was passed by the populace, but struck down by the courts as unconstitutional.
In the 15 years since then, the latino population has greatly increased, so one would think the possibility of it passing now would be that much less. But with the state in dire economic straits, more and more people are getting outraged by the enourmous amount of money spent of the care and well being of illegals.
Remember that it was struck down by a court due to political correctness.
With the dire financial crisis CA is in, I bet it would pass. Then, a judge who cares more about being PC than about the simple fact that illegals are, in fact, ILLEGAL would strike it down just as was the case before.

I wish they would revisit that election outcome and apply what the voters wanted before making any other cuts to the State budget. Another ballot measure isn't even necessary.

So do you think prop 187 would pass today?
Without a doubt, 187 would pass if voted on today. Thats a moot point though, California can't even pay its employes these days. Hell, they can't even pay attention, much less take care of illegals bilking the state.
If you like what you have, keep doing what you are doing. Thank "Arno" and the illegals for the 3rd world garbage pitt CA has become.

And then, another judge like Sotomayor, being a hispanic ethnocentric activist kook would strike prop 187 down in a heartbeat if it passed and then award the illegals amnesty damages for any mental anguish suffering prop 187 may have done to them.
Prop 187 would likely stand today--------------precedent has been set by the refusal of the 9th Circuit Court to strike down Arizona's employer sanctions law.

Most registered White voters in California would probably vote for proposition 187, but I doubt very much that most registered Hispanic voters would vote for it. For most Hispanics, La Raza comes first and the U.S economy comes second. That is where their loyalty stands.
Why doesn't some anti illegal try to bring prop 187 up again? We have the pro illegal enablers trying to pass the Dream act and amnesty every year.
