I guess if an illegal has managed to evade arrest for criminal behavior, and evade detection for being here illegally, they should be permitted to remain in this country without the fear of being apprehended by ICE.

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- U.S. immigration agents who round up people who evade deportation orders will no longer operate under a quota system, officials said Monday.
Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security John Morton, who runs Immigration and Customs Enforcement, told reporters he has dropped the quota system and plans further changes in the program, the Los Angeles Times reported.
ICE agents have been rounding up and deporting immigrants with criminal records and outstanding deportation orders since 2003 -- sometimes employing high profile sweeps. The operation has netted tens of thousands of arrests but immigration rights advocates have found fault with some of its tactics and its effectiveness.
The Migration Policy Institute reported this year that almost three-fourths of the estimated 97,000 people arrested by the ICE teams had no criminal records or deportation orders, the Times said.
ICE is immigration enforcement first, arresting rapists is a Cop first duty. I have NO problem with ICE picking off random criminals standing around a 7/11. Which btw, they are, if they've entered or overstayed illegally.
no, we are not talking about police doing it. once in the jail they dont magically get scanned and processed for deportation by a fairy deportation god mother. there are people that are trained to do that. thats where the govt is focusing their attention. those already detained. then once they have done that, they can move on to those with orders of deportation. they are setting priorities. its a good thing.

yes, of course its the police. what are you talking about? did something get lost in conversation? let me re read this thread...
Please, take your time.
My point is that ICE isn't always 'looking for the most hardened' criminals. The Illegal populace is all criminal. They are all fair game.
IMO Police should be able to support immigration issues as well as ICE. The prison's staff and Sheriff dept in jails should be scanning these losers not ICE and Police. Many States are adopting this policy and I think it's great. Police should be arresting anyone breaking the law, ICE should be focusing on Illegals felony or not. All aspects of LE should be tied into the 21 million criminal invader mess.
i dont know how you got so confused. im sure we are saying the same thing...
mehhh. (shrugs)
