Does this surprise you? I get horrible, non-factual, no data emails from "friends" here in the northeast (that bastion of liberalism, right?) in vivid, livid color, saying that immigrants ruin everything. We came when I was a little girl, in 1951. Didn't have to, had a nice life in France, but we loved family already here. Kids learn from their parents and I was called names, "Go back where you came from; we don't want you. Frenchie!" and we were in a "nice" area. Hey! Paris wasn't so bad! Dad had a nice job; we were happy. But my dad was close to his sister and she was here. She and her engineer husband vouched for us, we came through Ellis Island. My father started a job 3 days after arrival. Mom went to school to learn English and worked in a factory. I went to 1st grade and found out that American kids didn't know their multiplication tables up to 4. What?
Every immigrant that I have ever known pays taxes, social security and now medicare. Yet, many Americans I know are young, able and healthy and are getting support for themselves, children, & health care from the government. What is wrong with this picture?
It was awful to dislocate my hip in Paris in '88 whiile on business. No one asked about insurance. They kept me for 4 days to make certain I'd be OK. They figured that I was American because I am, and so is my passport. Don't worry, functionaries are the same everywhere. Birth info is right there! As I left in an ambulance for the airport, a little lady ran after us and waved a paper. "But Madame, the bill!" "Send it to my insurance co. Here 's my card." "But, Madame, we don't send bills." "OK. I'll ask, nicely." Our insurance companies don't ask to pay. The French gov't paid my way because I had an accident. What should they have done? Let my leg hang in my agony? What civilized country would do that?
And, for me, that is the whole matter in a nutshell. We do what we can because we are civilized. Those who can, pay. Immigrants founded this nation. Some were legal, like us, others stowed away from Ireland, England, etc. Where were your ancestors from?

OK: why do you pro illegal alien apologists insist that the USA have to allow more of those criminals in? Yet; there is precious little desire for the EU do do that same thing-----------if anything, things are becoming more and more hostile in Europe towards legal immigrants let alone illegal aliens.
As for that bit about this country founded in part to illegal immigration----------the same can be said for France, Germany, Ireland, etc.

If you can convince every Illegal Alien on the tax payer funded dole that they should get their hands out of my wallet then then rest of what you are saying might be absorbed. Until then I want the thieves removed, post haste.

Aiding an individual after a serious accident would take precedence, needless to say. That stated: IF the injured person proved to be an illegal alien...........he/she needs to be deported once stable. Read that no longterm care, etc.
