Many on the Anti-illegal immigrant/immigration movement say that a church does not have the right to advocate for its members wether legal or not.

Does a church, advocating for immigration reform in what ever form that may be, cross the line?

Should it be illegal for a church...any church to harbor/sancturary illegal immigrants? And be an advocate for illegal aliens in this country.

What if anything should happen to the church and pastor?

Or is there a Constitutional right of separation of Church and State...and a Church can express its views of the government from its Pulpit without fear of retribution.

Should a Church even get mixed up in poiltics, or is saving souls the only purpose of a church.

Not equating the two struggles, but should it have been OK for the reverend Dr. ML King to have spoke on politics form his pulpit? Or was Dr. King wrong to mix religion and politics?

Encouraging foreign citizens to break all sorts of just laws in this country should lose them their tax-exempt status.

Dr. King was working to improve this country, he was working for American citizens.

The churches should relocate to these other countries and work to improve them. They aren't working to benefit the people of this country at all. They are in this to promote the cheap labor agenda of the elites.

I think they should be subject to arrest for aiding and abetting law breakers in this country. Advocating for immigration reform is one thing. Haboring law breakers is quite another.

Dr. ML King did not advocate for law breakers. He advocated for equal rights for black citizens in this country.

A whole lot of it has to do with that "faith based charity" where they are handed billions of taxpayer dollars.

They aren't doing any of this on their own dime after all.

The “church” can advocate for anything it chooses. However, as discussed on another thread, when a financial gain is involved, they threaten their tax-exempt status. Also, as chicagonut stated, they are harboring illegal aliens. Thus, they are aiding and abetting illegal aliens, which IS a violation of federal law.

Quote:
Title 8, U.S.C. § 1324(a) defines several distinct offenses related to aliens. Subsection 1324(a)(1)(i)-(v) prohibits alien smuggling, domestic transportation of unauthorized aliens, concealing or harboring unauthorized aliens, encouraging or inducing unauthorized aliens to enter the United States, and engaging in a conspiracy or aiding and abetting any of the preceding acts. Subsection 1324(a)(2) prohibits bringing or attempting to bring unauthorized aliens to the United States in any manner whatsoever, even at a designated port of entry. Subsection 1324(a)(3).

Harboring -- Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(iii) makes it an offense for any person who -- knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation.

Encouraging/Inducing -- Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv) makes it an offense for any person who -- encourages or induces an alien to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of law.

Conspiracy/Aiding or Abetting -- Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(v) expressly makes it an offense to engage in a conspiracy to commit or aid or abet the commission of the foregoing offenses.

The Catholic Church has enough problems and should know when to back off. Myself, and several other friends, have ceased making donations to the church as we fear the money is being used to 1) defend pedophiles and 2) further the illegal immigration agenda.

As countless child sex abuse scandals have rocked the Catholic Church over the last several years, American families have been leaving the church in droves. As American men and women whisk away their children from the potential risk of molestation in the Catholic church, they also take their much needed money. The coffers of U.S. Catholic churches have been running on empty and the church sees the pocketbooks of illegal immigrants as its only hope.

During Pope Benedict XVI’s 2008 visit to the United States, he gave many speeches and sermons. Among other things, the Pope admonished Americans to adopt a welcoming attitude toward those who break our laws by entering this country illegally. Benedict said: “I want to encourage you and your communities to continue to welcome the immigrants who join your ranks today, to share their joys and hopes, to support them in their sorrows and trials and to help them flourish in their new home.

It was discovered that the Pontifical Commission for Latin America, a Vatican-based group which answers directly to the Pope has made a large donation to help build a shelter for Central Americans on their illegal journey to the United States. The money was given to the Brothers On The Path refuge, located in the Mexican city of Ixtepec.

Of course it does. After all, devout Latin Americans will continue to bear children to replenish the flock which is being lost in the US following the pedophile scandal.

Be careful: the la raza types may accuse you of racism (never mind you are 'Hispanic' yourself).
