Unfortunately I disagree with Digger that it's a shame that Legals are the ones to bear to banner against illegals. If anyone knows the hypocrisy, if anyone's disadvantaged by the permissive accomodation of illegals, it's those who understand the goal, who want the protection of American laws, and who realize the honest way to obtain that protection is to submit yourself to the jurisdiction of those very laws.
Bottom line, is you can't trust citizens born here to be able to understand the strife and sacrifice that legals go through to achieve the American Dream. If you haven't gone through the process, you can't understand it. More legals need to speak out. And citizens shouldn't skew their words or perspective to advance their own agenda.

It's unfair to state that those who are native to this country can't understand the process. Many of us are not that far away from immigrant status. My father's parents emigrated legally. I am a second generation American on his side, Native American on my mother's. My grandparents raised patriots, two of them sons (my father being one) who both fought in WW II, my father in Korea also. My grandparents never forgot the sacrifices they made to come to this country nor the blessings that being naturalized citizens gave to them. Many of us truly do understand the process.
I do agree with you that more legal naturalized citizens must speak out against illegal immigration though.

I'm a first generation American. There is no possible way I can fully appreciate what my parents had to endure. Period. Their struggles I cannot fathom to come here legally. I can understand parts of it. Sacrificing for your children is universal. But to learn another language, to throw away your ties and familiarities, and go to another country . . . They can tell us, they can show pictures, but we can't experience it. I'm not far away from immigrant status, but I'm not an immigrant. I can share what I observe about legals, and perhaps my observations are either as valid or in some respects have more validity as an outside observer. But it's not the same. That's all I'm saying. The legal immigrant experience needs to be shared from the perspective of those who actually experienced it. To counter and dismiss the arguments of illegals who are sharing their own experiences. It seems we agree on that.
I didn't intend to mean that natives are limited to 0 percent understanding. Of course they can understand part of it. But I stand by my belief that they can't fully understand it. I don't think it's in the least bit unfair because you have to experience it to fully appreciate it. Just like you can't tell someone what sex is like. They have to go through it. Just like Michael Jordan can't tell Patrick Ewing what winning a championship is like. Just like parents can't tell people without kids what it's like to see their children's birth or what it's like to raise children.
The legal/documented/stated immigration policy is fair, but administration/enforcement is arbitrary and slow.
Those that place line-jumpers ahead of legal immigrants ... are engaging in a criminal act for personal gain.

I am an advocate AGAINST illegal immigrants no matter which country they are from, and even if the come from the moon.
Me, as a legal immigrant (with so many others) work hard to support this country, contribute taxes, obay the laws, and just trying our best to make this country bigger and better then it ever was.....While the leeches are trying to suck all life out of us and bring this country to the knees, and create yet another 3 rd world country here, because all resources are going to be depleted because of them.
If I wanted to immigrate to the United States of Mexico, I would have made a shortcut and immigrated straight to Mexico instead!!!!!
All of us legals went trough all proper channels, just to obtain the legal immigrant status. If someone wants to be here bad enough, I believe they would do it, no matter how long it would take.
I am writing letters, e-mail's and do my phone thing, and I think the peoples outcry will (at the end) prevail!
So, good for her to tell Tom Tancredo....but, we have to keep it up, to tell them ALL!
