Egyptian Cairo is pronounced KYE-roh. Illinois Cairo is pronounced CARE-oh.

In case no one's noticed, there also a "Caro" in the "thumb" of Michigan's Lower Peninsula, but I'm not certain how it's pronounced either.

Well, to be honest, it depends on who is annunciating the word. Kay-Ro and Care-O are how it is pronounced down here.

Never heard of the town. It's not that impressionable although the downtown looked actually somewhat interesting. But no idea how to pronounce it. Maybe someone in Bay City or Saginaw would know, or someone in Menominee or Sault Sainte Marie (lol).

I always pronounced it Kay-ro, but come to think of it I have heard Care-O before.
