What is like living in Carmel, Indiana? I love the look of the cities, the houses look wonderful, it's a 7 hour drive from my parents, and it's affordable. How is living here with a family? How is the weather? How much snow does it usually get? Is there a lot of jobs available (registered nurse)? I would like to know as much as you can tell me. Thank you!

Agree that this should be posted in the Indy forum to get more replies. I don't live in Carmel but work there. It's an affluent, family-oriented suburb of Indy. It has a big business core, I believe the second largest concentration of offices in Indiana outside downtown Indianapolis. It has a nice downtown area and decent access to Indy and downtown Indianapolis (though no direct highway access to downtown Indy). Weather is pretty typical midwest, cold winters and hot summers. Average high in January is mid-30s, average high in July is mid-80s, though lows dropping below zero in winter and highs well into the 90s in summer are common. The area averages around 23 inches of snow per year. Some years get as little as a a handful of inches. Some years get as much as 40-50 inches. Jobs are pretty plentiful in Carmel mostly because, as I said, it has a huge number of offices. There are also two hospitals in Carmel, both along US 31. IU Health North and St. Vincent Carmel. St Vincent also has a huge health center in Carmel besides the hospital. And there are numerous other medical centers, especially surgery related. I'm not sure if that all translates into a lot of RN job openings but I would guess there would be several. Depending on where in Carmel you wanted to live, the main St Vincent hospital and Peyton Manning Children's Hospital are just a mile into Indianapolis from Carmel and that campus is huge with several other medical offices there. Or I know there's an orthopedic hospital on the northwest side at I-465 and 86th St, which wouldn't be much of a drive from parts of the west side of Carmel. Community North is also a huge campus with several other medical groups around it but it's more of a drive from Carmel at I-69 and 82nd St.
