Brookville, Indiana is celebrating the 200th anniversary of its founding this summer, and as someone who was born there but moved away, I fondly remember the 150th as a real "Waiting for GuFFman" experience, complete with corny pageant.
To keep up with the times, I hear they are having a local version of American Idol, which should be a hoot. Not much real, certified entertainment talent has come out of Brookville in years- but you never know- However, if you want to see a pretty, well-kept small town do its own thing, I'd plan at least one trip to Brookville this summer.
