Hi everyone,

Just curious to see if I'm the only one who hasn't received the property tax bill that was supposedly mailed recently? I keep reading about it in the paper, but I haven't received a thing. (Not that I'm anxious to pay the bill, but I don't want to get a penalty for non-payment!)

Any info would be appreciated.

Yep I'm Marion County as well, but I've received nothing. I suppose I need to call the assessor's office.

Good luck. The issue made the newspaper this morning. If you cannot get thru, call the Mayor's Action Line.

Thanks for the tip on the article. I have e-mailed them, and I'll try that # in the morning, but I bet I won't be able to get through.

What is the 3% cap for all other property on the property tax bill? We are confused as to what this charge is for? Thanks

That is all other property. Technically it could be anything the assessor wants it to be. In my former county, they took $5K off my home and put in in that 3% category. I called and asked about it one year and didn't get a straight answer. They removed it. Next year, same thing happened. Called again and the assessor herself called me back. Said that they were assessing at 10+ year old junk mini-barn at $5,000. At that time I had no idea what mini-barns cost, but since we were moving I didn't fight it. My brand new, fairly decent mini-barn I had built at the new house cost less than half that.

Don't be surprised if you see more boats, trailers, vehicles, etc. been added to this category. This was one of the issues the reform group made a few comments about, that the law was vague in what counted as all other property.
