Why so many? Is it a good Investment? I'm living in Texas and here you can pretty much barley get a decent home in the 70's. looking at realtor i see them n the 30's appear to be in good condition.

Quick reply it depends on location. We have some horrendously dangerous neighborhoods with high numbers of previous foreclosures and rentals. A friend could barely give her home away. Some neighborhoods have been too dangerous for Habitat for Humanity (they had armed robberies and threats to volunteers) even if the land is free. We also still have a lot of abandoned properties from the recession.

Surprisingly, a lot of those cheap houses are in nice neighborhoods--some of them very nice areas. My guess is that those houses need a lot--and I mean a lot--of work.

I had even called an elementary school, which i tough had high ratings if i could move my child to it instead of the one assigned to the condo they said yes.

Default School ratings

Go to GreatSchools to research if it is a good school for your kid.

Do not trust local school to tell you if it is good school.

5 or less is not good.

30k house in Indy is going to be in crappy area and most likely in poor condition in even an average area.
