Monday my hotmail account would not let me log in so I sent a reset request to Windows Live Help and got a reset back in a few hours. My profile was changed to Arabic and my contacts were deleted and someone had signed me up to dozens of Arabic google groups.
24 hours later after fixing as much as I could, and changing the password to a very strong 16 digits, it stopped working again. I have sent a reset request to Windows Live help again with no response yet.
How was the hacker able to break two passwords one of them very strong? Is my computer compromised?
Thanks, No keylogger, just 37 tracking cookies removed. I am now convinced the hacker just lied to Windows Live Help and got a reset from them.
The latest is that I got a reset from Windows Live Help, but it also notified the hacker since he has added his email to my profile to be notified and the hacker was able to cancel my password reset request.
Wow, you have more reason to have a frown face on your post than anyone I've seen lately. What are they always asking us our mother's maiden name and what we called our first pet if they don't seek that information before reformatting your accounts? Can someone in Arabia actually learn your mother's maiden name just because you typed it on a supposedly secure line when you signed up for this account? Sounds like Hotmail has something to answer for, doesn't it? No answers from this end, just empathy.
Thanks, I have learned a valuable lesson. Even the supposedly secure info you put on your private profile is subject to being revealed. Someone in Bahrain, hacker name ABoSaaD, knows my name, real address, friends email address, private account signup info, etc., that Microsoft agreed to would never be revealed.
I have summarized the latest for Windows Live Help desk, and I am patiently waiting. I know the hacker is deleting all my email since Tuesday.
