So, I'm stuck seeing this red bar saying I'm a winnner (I WAS a winner, please everyone stop congratulating me - I won around 5 months ago)...and I'm told these have been changed to green.

So they're telling me I have to clear my cookies in order to see the change. Thing is, I don't want to have to clear ALL my cookies - nor should I have to. I just want to be able to clear the cookies that City-Data put on my computer.

Can someone tell me how please? I don't know WHICH cookies were put there by City-Data, so I can't just pick the "right" ones and delete them.

I have the current version of SeaMonkey for my browser.

If you don't know what that is, then you probably won't know how to do what I would like to do.

Can't you just go to "Tools", "Cookie Manager", "Manage Stored Cookies", find the CD cookie, highlight it and click, "Remove"?

If you do it this way, on the left hand side you will see, "Domains". Go to the city-data dot com and highlight it. All CD cookies should show.

Heh no I'm not mad at anyone for being so nice - I'm just annoyed that this newfangled bar is deceiving people into thinking I -recently- won something that I didn't win, and I have no option to remove it. It's embarrassing.

If you're referring to this:

The only way that is going away is if they change the HTML code.

-------edit----

The red image is cached in your browser temp files, hit the refresh button and it should turn green. If it still stays red hold the ctrl button down and hit f5 which does a full refresh of a page.

Thanks Coalman, refresh worked. Strange that closing the browser and re-opening it a day later didn't do it. I wonder why people were saying I had to clear my cookies in the "about the forum" thread about the new winner bars.

Now if I can just figure out how to make the bar disappear entirely...

Thanks again!

The image was stored in your cache, that saves you and the server bandwidth. They usually have dates set. It would have changed eventually.

You could have accomplished the same thing clearing all your temp files which are separate than cookies. They were probably clearing all their history along with the temp files and cookies.

You can for you personally using something like adblock.
