Im on IE6 and YES I could read it instantly.....

I think the key is HAVING SCRIPTS DISABLED!! -- If you have "ACTIVE SCRIPTING" disabled, alot of that crap doesnt load and pages are MUCH FASTER

However on another site im on where ppl are having slowdowns,I have suggested trying this and it doesnt work for them (The site is still slow) I dont know what they are using...... (Just made me feel bad it didnt work for them)

There are some sites that I refuse to even glance at anymore. The "Time" magazine website is so insane it isn't worth the time. It won't load properly on a proxy and even with adblock and no-script and careful allowing of permissions it sucks cowpond water.
I use your suggested freeproxyserver with "Allow cookies to be stored" and "Store cookies for this session only" unchecked and breitbart loads instantly.

You could download Lynx, and read everything text based on the command line:

Lynx Information

I have known people that use this to surf the internet at work, because it looks like they are just typing code, or working if you just glance and see a shell.
