From another site, and it deals with windows Updates, but it may also resolve your issue since it is the same error code.

"The issue seems to come down to an error with Windows Genuine Advantage Validation on the PC in question.

So here is the solution on How to fix 0x80070005 Error

0x80070005 - Resolution Suggestion:

In most cases you can resolve this error by doing the following:

Step 1

Open up your browser and download the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool -
HERE to your desktop.

Step 2

Simply double click the file and hit the "continue" button.

The tool will now run a diagnostic and hopefully automatically fix the issue on your PC.

Step 3

When finished you should see an entry:

Validation Status: Genuine

Now REBOOT your PC and try Windows Updates again..."

Have you tried clearing out all your temp files and folders?

FWIW, I have headaches with IE 8 on Windows 7, also. Frustrates the snot out of me at times, because it locks up quite a bit and I have to go into Task Manager to shut it down. I don't know what causes it, but I have noticed it got much worse after doing some Windows updates. Why that would be the case is beyond me, but I really wish I could switch to a different browser. But my system is a 64-bit system, and the only browser which has a 64-bit version of Flash is....TADA....IE8. Argh!

bs13690, if I had to guess, I'd say clearing the temp files doesn't fix the problem. It certainly doesn't work for me anyway.

Well, of all things, I just tried downloading Flash for Opera, and it's actually working on my computer! So maybe you could give it a try.

Side note: Ccleaner does a more thorough job of cleaning the crap.
