Anyone feel this is an o/k investment for part of a sound portfolio? I try and buy two $200 bonds a month (at a cost of $200 now) and just put them away. I'm 40, so I have quite a while to go till I can retire.

At 0.6% interest, I'd have to say:

I would avoid I and EE series bonds for now. QE really did the job of making money even cheaper and more abundant, and there's always institutional investors and sovereign funds willing to soak it up, so the rates are cheap.
