Another forum thought they were decorative. I saw four on one block, not that good looking. Some think it is for good luck. I say if you want to sell the property, take down the star for better luck. Any thoughts.
I think that they do add a decorative patriotic touch to a wall of a house or barn. Especially if you live in the Lone Star State.
I guess some people may prefer 6 sided stars or pentagrams so it's all just up to whoever owns the property expressing their individuality.
1) The star has a military significance (blue star.. gold star.. different colors signify household member in Iraq or Afghanistan, or lost in combat, wounded, etc. etc...For example: Brown means that a veteran lives in the house. Gold is they lost a family member in a war. Blue is someone in that house hold is serving in a war.)
2) Purely decorative with no significance
3) Signifies a Christian home
4) In Pennsylvania, denotes something about German-Amish tradition
5) In Texas, shows pride in ones state
6) A pagan home celebrating winter solstice
7) Barn stars... supposedly marks or covers the ends of beams in a barn
So apparently there is no singular purpose for this star.
