I know you are a good investor, but wow what a disaster CURO has been. Maybe it will rebound next year.
Yeah, it has been a miserable year for me with that one. It is a good thing that I have strong stomach and a longer term view. I could very well be wrong, but I think that at this time next year I am really going to be feeling a lot better about it. With over 45,000 shares, got a pretty good chunk riding on it so it will be an interesting year.
I'm thinking we move basically sideways this year. We're going to figure out new normals. A recession, if there is one, will be light. Maybe the definition will be changed so that recessions no longer happen anyway. Future growth will be subdued though. Bond market will offer returns, but liquidity will keep tightening. Oil may ease more as Supply grows into Demand. Dollar is funny at the moment. It will go up in troubled times, but by end of the year will likely be cheaper than it is now.
I think the theme this year are people that can grow and pay dividends. People are realizing FAANG can make a bajillion dollars and won't pass along enough to make it worth holding.
SNY (20%) - Sanofi (not Sony) is a play REGN's growth only we get a dividend to boot. Sanofi is in Europe which has been battered down. Promising drug pipeline and antiviral lineup should do ok.
PSA (20%) - Storage solution tends to hold up well in unpromising times, paying a dividend while people wait. Though I like SPG a bit more in real life.
BSAC (20%) - Chile went leftist last year, but it looks like just a normal government. So long as Democracy continues to hold, Chile can hold its own. Copper and Lithium backed economy looks to have some solid upside to it.
GOLD (40%) - Barrick has had its detractors. Gold bugs are annoying. However the metal's held its own even with a strong dollar. If the dollar gets weaker and oil gets cheaper, that's a win-win for the gold miner.
