I wish this change had not been made. As a resident of the greater Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area, a stand-alone Iowa City forum is not very useful to me. I know it's *city* data, but in this case I think a regional sub-forum would be appropriate. I do know that there is a big difference between the two cities, but there is also a LOT of crossover in shopping, entertainment, etc., especially for those who live in one and work in the other or who live in outlying communities that aren't clearly suburbs of one or the other.
The merge forums option is fine for reading other people's posts, but much less helpful if I want to ask, for example, 'where's a good place to find X?' I would need to double-post, and wouldn't get the benefit of answers that compare resources in both cities.

No, I don't think it really fits at all either. I could kind of see a QC area subforum as that's a bit of a drive from the rest, but really the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area is practically a unit. Perhaps an Eastern Iowa subforum would be better.

Cedar Rapids/Iowa City are so close to each other in proximity, I agree a subforum for both of them as a unit would have been more appropriate.

I don't see where there's even traffic enough to warrant a separate subforum. A whopping 6 IC-related threads posted in since May 1, whoopie!

Cedar Rapids and Iowa City are two distinct cities but ultimately linked to one another. Iowa City is the cultural hub while Cedar Rapids is the economic engine for the area. I agree a combined CR/IC subforum should have been created.

Seems odd to me as well. A sub-forum for the 5th biggest city in the state, whilst skipping #2. Cedar Rapids, #3. Davenport, and #4. Sioux city.

A certain sub-forum has to be created due to the number of threads being made for it. Seems like Iowa City was one of the more popular cities on City Data to get information about.

Why not? It's not like adding a sub-forum is expensive. It also makes it easier and more organized for the researcher. I am not suggesting we do every city either, but why not represent the bigger cities as well? Can't have an Eastern Iowa (Cedar Rapids & Iowa City) and a QC sub-forum?

Read reply above. Wouldn't an eastern Iowa forum serve the same purpose, but make it a little easier to find CR info as well?
