Actually I was referring to some threats that have been made by kids, and at least one incident of a gun being taken from a student back in '04, as reported in this press release. Bad things can happen anywhere.

In more recent times, Bettendorf, along with several Davenport schools, failed to meet state achievement targets under No Child Left Behind. QCTimes article here.

So nearly any school has negatives. Yet if you're moving to the QC you probably hear "Don't send your kid to Davenport schools," which I feel is complete nonsense. I'd suggest trying to talk to parents of kids in each of the districts, although I can understand how that could be difficult for someone just moving here.

I went to school in the Pleasant Valley district from 6th-9th grade and I think it was far better than the Bettendorf schools. We then moved out to the North Scott school district which was also very good.

North Scott was an awesome high school and I have found memories of my time there.
