Here's a pretty extensive chart of the most popular jobs in Iowa I found: Iowa Jobs and Career Information

I think it really varies by area in Iowa. Iowa City is focused on health care and education (the University, ACT headquarters, Pearson), as is Ames. Des Moines has more banking, insurance, and other financial jobs available. Most cities have some form of manufacturing somewhere, Cedar Rapids is a good example of a town with a few factories but also some other industry, like Alliant Energy headquarters and Rockwell Collins. Rural areas will have more farming jobs, and there are lots of jobs in agribusiness across the state, especially in the Quad Cities with the John Deere headquarters. I think a growing field in Iowa would be any job associated with wind energy, it seems like wind plants are really popping up around here. Nursing is also a huge industry, I know the whole state has a pretty bad nurse shortage. Those are just a few things I thought off of the top of my head, I'm sure there are some I'm forgetting.

Des Moines is known for insurance and banking industry. Iowa also has more telecom companies than any other state.
