Hey Folks,

What's the best route to take to go to Jacksonville, FL from Atlanta, GA. I just checked both google maps and yahoo maps and it's telling me 2 different ways.

The first is basically telling me to go I-75 South.

The second is telling me to take I-75 S to I-16 E then GA-19 to some other smaller highways.

Anyone know which is best to take to get to Jacksonville? Also, is the best route have good scenery around? Or is it just trees and highways?

Thanks much!

Best route safety-wise is to take 75 to 10 and come across. Scenery wise, I like going through Waycross (it also cuts about 45 minutes off the Interstate route). Take I75 to Tifton, then grab US 82 west. When you hit Waycross, take US 1 down to Jax. It drops you on the north side of the loop, and you can grab I 295 to get to where you are going.

Would 75 to 10 be the fastest way to get to JAX?

My parents live in Atlanta and they drove to Jax last month to see us. On the way down they took the highway route through Waycross and going home, they did I 10 to I 75. They thought the interstate route was faster and an easier drive.

I have only ever taken the I-10/75 route so I have nothing to compare to, but I would always recommend driving the interstate over an undivided highway. Especially if you've got places to go... hyuk hyuk *knee slap*

I10/I75 is only 30 miles more than using the rural highways. Unless you are one of those people who likes to drive 70mph+ on the rural backroads, I would have to imagine that the interstate is much faster.

I drove from Jacksonville to Atlanta and back in April and I went I-95 to I-16 in Savannah to Atlanta.

Didn't do the I-75 route back so I'm not sure which is quicker, but I'm on the North end of the area so it looked like I-95/I-16 was a better route, at least for me.

I think it took about 5-1/2-6 hours to get to Marietta from Fernandina on that route..
