Something is wrong with this list. Santa Rosa? Santa Rosa California is miles from the beach. And Daytona is in Florida, not California. If the list is based on how many people go there, I would consider it a list of places to avoid unless you really like crowds.

As much as I would like to believe that Jacksonville Beach is the most popular beach I do believe that somebody is blowing smoke ....
9 million beachgoers in 2010 and ahead of Miami Beach for popularity? Who is keeping a headcount at these beaches? Surely not the lifeguards. But then this article was submitted by someone named Roger Bull, so I'll rest my case.

Well, keep in mind, they're not saying it's the best beach in the US, rather, the most popular. They figured this out by looking at the estimated number of people not from the area who visit it annually vs. the population.

Now, I can't speak for their estimate on how many people not from the area who visit Jax Beach but I can see where they're going with this. Not sure it means a whole lot (to be quite honest) but it is good for Jax Beach to be recognized.

Could they possibly mean Santa Rosa Beach, Florida? Which is over by Pensacola. And I'm still wondering about how they gathered their numbers for a statistical survey.

I think the various chambers of commerce lobby for the publicity and they just keep rotating beaches.

While I get what many of you are saying--even agree with you--I guess I find it strange that so many are not accepting the good news. Ok, this isn't anything incredible but any good news is a good thing, imo. It's better than being labeled the least popular beach isn't it?
