I first indicated to the hiring manager that I will be interested in Dallas.... Fearing the hot hot weather in Dallas in the 11th hour I asked if Jacksonville is still an option and the hiring manager asked me to join in Dallas and at a later point in time I can move to Jax.

So I reported to work and I am currently in Dallas and the hot hot weather is really horrible. I am planning to visit Jax this weekend with my wife and look for Apts and if we really like Jax better compared to Dallas then I plan to push hard my case for Jax.

Thanks!

Good point! But the difference I believe is Jacksonville gets a onshore sea breeze almost every afternoon and Dallas gets a Hot Dry wind that's like being in a convection oven.

Since I can drive and dont need public transportation and my wife is the one who needs public transportation...

could you suggest some nice economical, peaceful, safe/crime-free apartment communities/zip codes

i) within 5 to 10 miles from UNF/downtown AND close to public transportation and
ii) also at the same time about 5 to 10 miles from Citibank corp office location (citicard way)

Appreciate your help..

Thanks!

The biggest problem is the reliance on public transportation and the uncertainty of your wife's destination. If you could carpool that might help. The public transportation is very limiting, and not knowing exactly where she needs to go just makes it impossible to know whether she could conceivably do the bus.

I'll say that in general, if there's one place you can count on catching a bus to, it would be downtown. The hub for almost all bus routes is the Rosa Parks Station right by Florida State College's Downtown campus. But I still don't feel comfortable relying on that to be punctual.

Spalam, The Links at Windsor Park may be something you could look into while you are in town. They have a high rating, as far as apartments go in Jacksonville. They are considered "luxury", but I am personally still wrestling with that based on the pics of their kitchens, but you can make your own judgement if/when you look at them. Being on Hodges Blvd, very close to UNF.

They are reasonable for the size of apartment you get there (almost 1300 sq ft for a 2/2 is currently running $1070). Besides the Riverside/Avondale area, I am looking at possibly renting there myself.
