Not really blue water, water! Lots of Conch shells and Sand Dollars at Jekyll Island Beach.

Try Singer Island in the Palm Beaches. It is just beautiful. The further South you go the better the water and sand.

No real comparison as the water and sand is so much more beautiful in the Palm Beaches.

How come nobody has suggested Panama city? It has very beautiful emerald green/blue water.

Thats where you should head.

Disgusting? Really? I think that's a bit harsh.

Go to the beaches in NJ and tell me about disgusting water. I never went in the water at the beaches there. I go in all of the time here.

I'm pretty sure I saw some really blue water at Crescent Beach last summer. I even marked it on my GPS so I would know how to get back and find it

I'm from the Palm Beaches and I learned that the blue water only comes when the tide is coming IN. Down there, you could literally see the line between the black old water and the new blue water coming in. So if you're trying for blue water anywhere north of the Bahamas, make sure you are there when the tide is coming up.

I considered it, but it's also 4 1/2 hours. No farther than West Palm Beach or Sarasota though.

So that brings up this question. Which is the better beach, Sarasota, Panama City or West Palm Beach? Opinions?

Oh, SARASOTA!!!! Siesta Beach at Sarasota consistently wins "Best Beach in the World" even over Hawaii's beaches!!! The soft white sand, gentle slope into warm clear water that creates miniature bays for kids to play in, it's the BEST!!!

Panama City Beach ... you just can't beat the "Redneck Riviera."
