Has anyone been to St. Simons Island recently?
Any recommendations where a couple could spend a weekend, preferably close to the water? Restaurants, things to do, etc.?

My wife and I when we want to "just" get away and not do anything like we do in St Augustine love going to the King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort. I used to go for the golf but now just go to relax. Here's a link ...

I agree with madcap. The King and Prince is an A+ place to stay there.

Stay near "The Village" / pier area and you'll find plenty to do for a weekend get away. There's B & B's, hotels, and plenty of vacation rentals in the area.

Folks, thanks for the tip on the King and Prince. I just have to get a feel for the big bucks they want for a room.

Don't rule out Jekyll Island, while not quite as much to do as Saint Simmons it is only a few miles from it.

Thanks for the suggestion and info! What perfect timing! Just what my husband & I need after 3 months taking care of my mother who comes down for the winter. We just put her on a plane yesterday so we are ready for some R & R and hopefully a little fun too! Our trip is booked at the King and Prince resort and we are on our way!

We just got back from our first trip to St Simons Island. We enjoyed our 4 day stay at The King & Prince Resort, LOVED the island, met some great people, ate some delicious food and relaxed on the beautiful beach! Thanks again for the suggestion! We will be going back soon!
