Anyone know of a place to buy tobacco dust in NE Fl? It's great for chasing fleas out of the yard ... with the waaaaaay too mild winter we had, they're already showing up ...

Never heard of it, is it the same thing as diam. earth - ? Here's a link to another flea discussion http://www.city-data.com/forum/dogs/...k-our-dog.html

Not sure if you have a dog but fleas are so prevalent in FL - we use Frontline Plus but may be changing to something else as I dont think the FP is all that effective anymore.

Good luck, hope you get some answers

From just experience, Revolution works great for dogs and cats. I know several people with indoor/outdoor dogs and they have zero fleas on them.

King Edward cigars down off of the Martin Luther King/20th Street Expressway used to sell 50 pound bags of it ... not sure if they still do or not. Give em a call!
When I was a kid we used to go down there and get about 600 pounds at a time. It's also great for keeping all bugs away from roses/plants and cats/wildlife from digging in your garden.

What about those little black grasshoppers (I think they're black, anyway) that turn into the giant monster grasshoppers? The vacant house next to me seems to have an infestation and they've worked their way over to my newly-landscaped yard. I bought some Sevin spray (because it seemed less "cancer-y" than Sevin dust) and that seems to have worked, anything else I should be doing?

Also, speaking about natural control, wouldn't the smoke from the fires help?

You can buy pipe tobacco and boil it down. When it gets fairly concentrated, you can put it in a hose end sprayer.I'm sure the dust is easier, but if you can't find it, this will do.
