I'm curious to know if there are many biking groups in or around Jax? I love to bike long distances and wonder what the biking community is like in the area (if there is any). I may be accepting a job relocation to Jax soon and am trying to learn all I can about the area.

Thank you for any input.

Jacksonville has an active bike club for serious bikers.

There's a bike path near Baldwin, its 29 miles long. They do this trail weekly (some do the trail daily) and they bike around town starting from the different bike shops.

i have some info at work for ya.....

But talking to Open Road or City Cycle (both in the Riverside/Avondale neighborhood) would be very beneficial. They are expert bike people and are located in a very bike friendly area (which is rare in jax) so they would have a lot of info for you too.

There is a bike shop at San Jose and Ricky Drive in Mandarin that has rides for all ages every Saturday and I know that it is the staging area for the hard core riders. Any bike shop will probably have some info for groups in your area.

We sure had picture perfect weather for bike riding this past weekend~

I prefer riding by myself, but I second the suggestion to stop by the bike shop right there in Avondale, next to the kids' clothes boutique. Good equipment choices and nice folks. They gave me a free map for "Bike Ways of Northeast Florida" that's been pretty handy...

A belated thank you for the responses. It sounds like there's some decent cycling going on in the area which is a good thing.

Hey all,

There's a biking group that I see in the NW St. John's area frequently. I can't seem to find which group this might be, does anyone happen to know?

Thanks in advance!

The group at Veterans park is huge. If your child happens to have a Saturday morning soccer game good luck finding parking. The cycling group takes up so many spaces.
