Something like that happens every week in this town. Sad, but true.

In fairness, what "side" of town doesn't have shootings? The "westside" is a huge geographical area, some of it very nice some of it is not. Just like the rest of Jax, and virtually every other city.

It's a part of life that crime can & does happen everywhere, to anyone. Hence, just have to use common sense & be aware.

For example, a friend of mine had an attempted armed robbery committed against him at 5pm in the afternoon while walking his dog on a relatively busy & nice street in Riverside this past week. Because he was aware, we wasn't caught off guard, got a decent description of the vehicle (2 door gray Audi, probably stolen) and the preps (didn't ask), and got away.

If he wasn't paying attention, he surely would have been robbed.

That's interesting since you personally criticized me for advising a widow with a daughter to relocate to the Strand until she became familiar with the city - because she wouldn't be just randomly walking around San Marco safely at night if she moved there. I believe your words were I had "credibility issues".

HAHA telling a dog walker they don't know what they're talking about then posting about a guy walking a dog almost getting robbed/mugged in broad daylight. Glad you see the light.

We wound up in the "not so nice" part of the Westside on Saturday by accident. We were driving south on Blanding - heading to I-295. There was a sign that said to turn right to get to I-295. We figured it was a construction detour or similar. So we headed west. Don't think I've ever been in that exact area before - and it's not an especially good looking part of town. Robyn

Well, except for in Nocatee...at least according to the cheerleaders on this board.

I don't follow your logic.

Both San Marco & Riverside are great neighborhoods fit for virtually anyone. As thier mass popularity indicates.

My point is that you can't move away from crime. It happens everywhere. Criminals look for opprotunities wherever they may be. Just live life with eyes open.

Jammes and Harlow? That's too close for comfort. Up to now I had always defended Cedar Hills as a low-crime zone. No more. Of course it helps if you don't hang out at bus stops at 4:30 am.

What bothers me about this is how cheap life is getting. According to latest reports, 4 drug dealers conspired to rob and kill two other dealers for a few hundred dollars worth of weed. That's six young lives destroyed for a hundred each.
