I know that college football is now moving toward a playoff bracet system. Jacksonville is one of the places trying to get the big game in the future. Duval has done some big college games in the past, but I'm not sure The National Championship is bgger than say the Superbowl. Could Jacksonville handle that game, that is normally played in places like New Orleans or miami?

As far as hotel rooms that would be my only thought for logistics an along with that a need for an entertainment zone.

Downtown still does not have that destination advantage as far as things to do over several days for 70,000 people.

Jacksonville will be competing against some tough competition!

Zero chance this would ever happen in Jax.

#1. We laid a giant egg, when we hosted the Superbowl. ESPN is STILL joking about it.

#2. The only way this playoff happens is if the current 'major' bowls are part of the playoff system. That's the Orange, Rose, Sugar, and Fiesta Bowls. Maybe throw in the Cotton Bowl too, now that Dallas has the new Jerryland stadium. The Gator Bowl isn't in the same league, whether you're talking about cash payout, stadium, or game prestige.

#3. No where near enough hotel rooms.

#4. Who in their right mind would choose to go to Jax in January, when they could go to Miami, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Phoenix, or even San Diego, Tampa, San Fransisco, Dallas, Las Vegas, Atlanta, instead? For that matter, any 'major' city anywhere in the Country that has a domed stadium would be more likely to win this game than we would. We'd be about 30th on any realistic list.

#5. Might get in the way of the planning of the next Monster Truck Rally.

Except for the Florida/Georgia game, you're going to have to be content with driving to Gainesville or Tallahassee, if you want to watch some top notch college football, in person.

none of that matter to the NCAA. The NCAA cares about how big your venue is and how much the guarantee is in cash. Plenty of final fours have been played in places worse than JAX

Not even close. No final four has ever been held anywhere worse (ie smaller, less well financed) than Jax.

And cash pay out? How in the World would anyone think that Jax could ever complete with the other dozens of larger cities, in that regard.

Sorry, but you're way off on this one.

Zero chance this game ever happens in jax. Zero.

Gator bowl major? Get real! It takes the #4 or #5 team from the Big Ten, which is the worst of all the BCS conferences.

The Gator Bowl has been falling in prestige for years.

Definitely not a top notch bowl anymore.

Well I am sure Jax is not getting the first 4 or 5 games, but I am glad they finally have a legit playoff system in NCAA instead of that BCS voting thing...Phoenix, New Orleans, Miami & Los Angeles will definitely get the game first. Those will most likely be the first four spots choosen.

Since it's going to be a 4 team playoff, there will need to be 3 total games in order to determine the National Champion.

The NCAA has announced that they will be rotating these 3 games amongst 6 different sites.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/27/sp...oved.html?_r=0

No question that the Rose, Fiesta, Sugar, and Orange Bowls, held in LA, Phoenix, New Orleans, and Miami, will be 4 of these 6 sites. That leaves two additional sites up for grabs.

The early thinking is that Dallas (Cotton Bowl) will be one of these sites, as it has the new Cowboy stadium, with its 100,000+ seating capacity, is located in the 4th largest metropolitan area in the Country, and is in the middle of football crazy Texas.

So, that really only leaves one site up for grabs.

The Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta, the Capital 1 Bowl in Orlando, and the Outback Bowl in Tampa all have current payouts far above the Gator Bowl payout, all have far more hotel rooms, all are locted in larger Metro areas, and offer better game weather. (Atlanta has the Georgia Dome)

I'll bet the final site will come from one of these three.

No way Jax gets involved in this rotation.
