What is one of the better tennis communities in St Johns county? How about Palencia or Nocate? Mixture of homes, shops, schools, play areas, tennis/sport facilities, etc..

We have some very nice tennis courts here in Durbin Crossing. I wouldn't call this a "tennis community" though as the courts are rarely crowded.

I live in Palencia, and we do have an active tennis program, with teams at all levels that play in several different leagues. I am fairly new to the sport, and play on the D-team in the Country Club League. I've been told by visiting players that are courts are among the nicest in the league, and Palencia is preparing to break ground on a new tennis clubhouse this spring. There are also kids' clinics, and of course, private lessons available. Access to the courts is included in the community fees...you do not need to be a Country Club member to play.

As far as other amenities, Palencia has great playgrounds and an elementary school within the community. I have three kids in the school, and have been very happy with the education my boys are receiving. Soccer and baseball fields are right in the neighborhood as well. And while we may not have a Nocatee-style water park, we do have three pools (one with a waterslide) and an active swim team. There is also a fitness center with most classes included.

Palencia's Market Street, and the shopping centers at the entrance to Palencia on US1, have seen several new business open within the past year...boutiques, restaurants, and a new martial arts studio (that offers adult fitness classes as well). The only thing we still lack is a supermarket.

You will see several threads complaining about the cable and internet service provided to Palencia by Litestream. Some people have issues with it...but for most of us here, the other benefits of the community make up for the less-than-stellar ISP.
