I am moving to JAX the last week in October with my wife daughter and two large dogs. Mastiff and great Dane. Seems like a lot of apartments wont allow the dogs. renting a house is a little out of my $950 a month budget on the high end.I would like top be in St Johns county for the good schools for my daughter. My office is right around the ponte vedra area. Was looking for a place in a 20 min driving radius.

Any info would be great.

In that price range I don't think you're going to find a house in St Johns Co, and surely not one that would allow two large breeds like that. You might have more luck up in Duval County and it would likely have to be in a not-so-ideal part of town for $950/mo.

At $950/mo. I would get rid of the dogs, free up several hundred more dollars a month and be able to live somewhere nice. At that range, you're in trouble if you want to rent in SJC, especially with two gigantic dogs.

We have size/weight/breed restrictions at the apt complex we live in. In fact, a lady moved in and she put on the Dog Information form that she had a small breed dog, whereas she really had a full-grown adult male Rottweiler. Management here don't ask to see the dog or a picture of it........they just take the word of the owner. Anyway, apparently she didn't think that management or any resident would say anything when she took it out for a walk........WRONG! Someone did say something and she was evicted. I actually seen and petted this Rottweiler and, for being an adult, it acted like a pup. But, rules are rules and she lied on the form. So, "bye, bye".

I don't believe they keep county by county dog life expectancy tables. But I'll take a guess and say giving them high quality food and keeping them up on their shots and other preventive medical care is much more important than what county you live in.

There are pockets of high crime anywhere. It often comes down to the neighborhood.

Maybe, but the answer it definitely yes, St. Johns is going to be safer overall than Duval.
