Did you know that Frontier flys Direct from St. Augustine to Trenton and back, several times a week?

No, thank you for that information! I've never flown into Trenton but I would love to avoid PHL!

I hear the fares are reasonable, too. They had a great intro fare last year. It will be higher over holidays/spring, but then back down. Definitely worth comparing, at least.

As for what I want, I would want insurance that would include dental, and entitle me to see specialists without needing a referral, not give me a hard time with prescriptions, ER coverage and low co pays.
I don't know beans about what your husband in New York might have to pay for in your divorce - much less what it might cover anywhere - including Florida.

I tend to think that unless your husband is a very wealthy person - your health care "wish list" is pretty much pie in the sky these days. Robyn

We relocated from the Northeast over two years ago and live in St John's County. Most people are very friendly and we enjoy the area a lot! There are a lot of community Facebook pages and Meetup groups in the area. I met a great group of women through a community page. Most are transplants from areas up north and many have similar age children. This group helped filled the void of leaving lifelong friends up north. We have couple outings, play bunco, sightsee, attend comedy shows, volunteer for St John's Cares, have holiday parties, etc.,
I will admit being so far away from our aging parents is difficult but are fortunate my parents were able to visit both years over the holidays.
Our health insurance through my job has high deductibles and co pays/out of pocket maximums but believe this is common everywhere these days.
I had a major sinus issue and ended up inpatient at Baptist South and had sinus surgery a few weeks ago. I have been happy with Baptist and am very pleased with my ENT and primary care Doctors.
Best of luck to you!

Did you have Dr. Snowden? Good man .

We have pretty good senior facilities in various flavors here if you ever need them (they are pretty pricey - but less pricey than in most areas up north).

Your situation WRT your health insurance is far from unique these days (both here and elsewhere). Robyn

I have heard some not so great things about health insurance in Florida, but I know that also depends on which company I choose.

Maybe I wasn't clear about what I said regarding my soon to be ex possibly paying for my insurance. My lawyer said she would have to check, but basically I would choose which insurance company to go with, and he would give me the money to pay for it, temporarily until I got a full time job.

In the meantime, I still have to rent out my house here in NY, and get a feel for the area when I visit my friend in April. I look on trulia and Zillow for rental ideas, but I know they won't be available by the summer or fall.

I took a look at the ACA exchange plans a while back for someone else. And recall that in St. Johns County (where I live) that there aren't any PPO plans for 2016 - just HMO plans (could be wrong). Don't know what the story is when it comes to non-exchange plans. I'm on Medicare - and don't know much about pre-Medicare health insurance. You can find a lot of useful information/ask questions here:

OP-- are they hiring in that area for teaching jobs ? My wife is a part time TA in the hudson valley and we are seriously considering moving to the jacksonville/St. Augustine area, contingent on her being able to get a full time teaching job in that area? Are they hiring?

If I do make the move it won't be until next summer. I don't know if they're hiring now. I would be hoping for a job for the next school year.
