On Google , it looks to be a straight shot east to the beach. I don't think you will find one closer. I don't know much about that area. But once you get to A1A, just head north or south and check out other places.

That is the main beach in Ponte Vedra Beach. If you then turn right on A1A (just before Micklers), then you will hit several other public beaches in the Guana Reserve. They are all nice. Micklers is busier. The only time they ALL get busy is on holiday weekends (ie, if you are going on Memorial Day, be aware that when the Guana parking lots fill up, that is it bc there is no other parking, they will just send you south to the next parking lot and so on). Micklers sometimes runs shuttles on holiday weekends from a park just down A1A.

You will not find one closer because Bartram park is kind of in between the Atlantic (beaches) and the St. Johns River - the river has a few boating places, but the beaches are all east. Are you near Racetrack Rd? Go east to Philips and then turn right (south) and jump on Nocatee Parkway, which becomes Palm Valley Road after the Palm Valley Bridge......go thru the traffic circle and Mickler's is 2 miles further. I agree with snuffybear though, Guana beaches are great too and because they charge $3 or $4 for parking they are never as crowded. I don't know about you, but a clean beach with open space is totally worth a few bucks to me and it should only take you about 20-25 minutes to get there.

Micklers is free. Jax beach has many free parking areas (every couple of blocks) and a couple places where you have to pay to park (ie center of Jax beach).

Mickler's sucks. It's crowded, the beaches are small and the "sand" is essentially small jagged rocks and shells, the parking is ridiculous. Go north to Jax or Atlantic Beach or south to St Augustine or Crescent Beach.
