My family will be (hopefully) moving to the area and I had a question regarding school districts. If we are not in a certain zone for a school, can we switch? Here in NY, if you are in a certain school district, you can't switch unless you pay the other town's taxes (on top of your own). I want to send my children to Orange Park elementary but don't know if it'll be "our" school. Does anyone know how I could find out?

I am pretty sure the only way you can do that here is if your child is in the district of a failing school. Maybe someone else here has insight, but I am pretty sure that is how it works around here.

In Duval, we have the Magnet program, which allows for some flexibility. Our taxes are the same no matter where you live in Duval with just a couple of exceptions (like the Beaches), so there is no issue with taxes if you switch schools.

I agree with Apanda, I don't think you can switch without a reason in Clay county (Orange Park), so you'll want to be sure you know what elementary school you are in the boundary for before you sign on the dotted line for a house.
