The thing is, no one knows why the driver behind you wants to pass. We know they're in a big hurry, but we may not know why. What if they have a sick child or pet that they're trying to get emergency help for? What if a relative has just been lifeflighted in to the hospital and they're trying to get there are fast as they can (this has happened to me )?

And remember from my previous post, in all seriousness, transplant organs are transported by unmarked cars every day on the highways and those drivers are in a hurry for a good reason .

It's best just to pull over and let them pass, especially if you're doing under 80mph. I've seen people run off the road on I95 and into the woods due to road rage, it's not worth it, just move to the right.
'Course I wouldn't do that. First, it's not in my nature and second, there would be nothing to gain and possibly a whole lot to lose. I was just pointing out the stupidity of tailgaters. But Riv, you do make a good point about giving the benefit of the doubt for that one in a hundred that may have a good reason to push me out of the way.

I remember you said that human organs for transplant were transported by unmarked cars rushing to hospitals. I thought at the time you were exaggerating and for that I owe you an apology since you said that someone in your family had transported organs this way. I still think those organ transporters should use sirens though.

Anyway, road rage in general is a different matter. It's all about power and 300hp can make alot of drivers feel they own the road.

There's the issue. Feeling like someone going faster is "pushing you out of the way."

Slower traffic keeps to the right. That's all. If you are going slower than the person behind you, pull over and let them by. You can see them approaching in your rearview mirror. Simple courtesy, that's all.

I know what simple road courtesy is, apparently you don't. If you go back and read the thread you'll see I am talking about riding other people's bumpers. It's more than discourteous, it's hazardous. I am quite okay with moving over, just don't ride my rear-end.

sometimes you might be on auto pilot and not realize that you''re hogging the road, it happens, don't get mad, just move over

No apology needed . Yes, it was something my husband did many years ago. Some of the drivers have lights for their cars (just dashboard mounted), but most of them don't.

I have to admit, I used to do this (get close to the bumper). I don't anymore, I've calmed way down, and I don't let my husband do it when he's driving with me in the car. At some point (years ago), I just realized it just made the driver in front of me slow down (or tap their brakes ) and it wasn't worth it.

Now, I just patiently wait behind the driver in front of me and they usually move to the right at some point....usually, not always....so I still get mad at times .
