Anyone a transplant from other FL areas? Also, Q's about FCCJ (Jacksonville: transferring to, university)

Any students here from FCCJ? Can anyone tell me what it's like? I've skimmed the internet and heard some pretty good things about it, but those were media articles.

I'm from the Clearwater/Tampa area, I moved away for a little while to Orlando to attend Valencia CC, then moved again to attend Palm Beach CC. The differences between VCC and PBCC were like night and day. I absolutely LOVE VCC, they're very proficient when it comes to student services, they offer a great deal of student involvement activities, host quite a few events throughout the year, extremely helpful with resources whether it's transferring to the university, getting tutoring for just about any subject, or finding career opportunity/internships. There were just always people there to help you with anything at anytime. They also offer online classes, which always ran smoothly.

On the flip side, PBCC lacked all of those things. It was a horrendous process trying to deal with student services, they were very slow and inefficient. The campus was fairly dead, students seemed to just go there for class and nothing else. If they had any resource centers or tutors, I never heard about it. It also seemed that the student-involvement was very little.

So what about FCCJ?

Also, are there any other people who have moved to Jacksonville from other areas of Florida? I haven't heard too many great things about it, but what are your takes on it? Where are you from??

I'm not a transplant nor am I a student at FCCJ, so I can't really help there. But I'll tell you that Jacksonville isn't much like Orlando or Tampa. FCCJ has a handful of campuses so depending on what you're studying, you may be going to different parts of the city.

Why wouldn't you return to VCC?
