I tried to search on google maps and got three different W. 9th Streets. Which zip code are we talking about? 32206, 32209, or 32254? I didnt look carefully, maybe they arent all residential, but that info would most likely help.

I find portland very interesting and will probably consider moving there when the time comes. Why are you leaving?

My guess would be that you're speaking of W. 9th in the Springfield neighborhood? Springfield is a Northside neighborhood going through gentrification.

You can find out more info about Springfield from their neighborhood preservation website/forum:

Welcome to Historic Springfield!

There's also some info here:

Springfield

If you lived in a similar neighborhood in Portland, you'd probably love Springfield. If you've never lived in a neighborhood going through the process, you might want to have a few other neighborhood options in mind in case you don't want to make the commitment to a neighborhood going through transition.

You'll want to specify which W. 9th Street. There's a big difference.

West of I-95 it's in Durkeeville, which is high crime, modest housing, and very little upside.

East of I-95 it's in Historic Springfield, which is still not for everyone - but the neighborhood has great potential. Beautiful old homes for a great price. The neighborhood is relatively low crime, however there's still a false impression of high crime because 1) It's near legitimately bad areas 2) There's still a lot of vacant lots along Main and 8th which look ugly and 3) It's racially diverse.
