An SOS to Jax CDers
My job suddenly has me working two hours away three days a week. The rub is that I have no one to pick up my kids after school and the school will not permit them to take a cab or city bus home.
I'd like to find a responsible teenager who would want the job. The kids school is near Beach and University and the home base is San Jose & I-295. Pick up time is 3:25. I thought that $20 per trip would be a fair price. It's under 20 miles (16, I think) and takes 25 minutes, plus time in line to get them.
Does anyone know a teen who might be interested or if not, are you plugged in to a church that might have someone in the youth group?
Please DM me to discuss, or post other options that I may not have thought about on this thread. I am now in the position of keeping my kids out of school or losing my job (in which case, I couldn't afford to keep the kids in school).
HELP!

I would recommend looking into your church or a local public service organization/rotary club.
How about neighbors or members of the Parent Teacher's association? Teacher's aides or other school administrators? After school care? YMCA?

Any other students live near you or perhaps your home is on their route to their own home? Perhaps one of the mothers who's already making the trek would be willing to transport your kids, too. You could still offer a small stipend for the favor.

I've called al lthe parents in our zip. Today I went to the school to get the word out. I would think that a SAHM might want the extra $250+- a month if she is making the trip anyway.

HIF - when will you need someone to start picking up the girls? Just asking, as I'm flying in Sunday morning and could help you out on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday if you haven't found someone by then. Let me know.
